Greater Lee's Summit Healthcare Foundation Grant Brings the World to Residents
The John Knox Village Foundation is excited to share that John Know Village us the recipient of a grant through the Greater Lee's Summit Healthcare Foundation.
The grant will allow residents to participate in innovative Virtual Reality programming sessions through the Rendever VR platform. Residents throughout the continuum of care, including the skilled nursing facility and assisted living, as well as independent living will be able to use this program. The goal will be to offer residents unique opportunities to explore the world, spark memories and connect with others without leaving the campus.
Want to visit the Louvre in Paris? Float down a roaring river? Go on safari? Take a trip down memory lane by seeing the home you grew up in? Want to have all these wonderful experiences, without leaving the Village campus?
The resident engagement platform offers users a variety of games and activities like virtual scuba diving and hiking and lets users travel almost anywhere in the world. One of the most important features of the platform is its ability to sync to multiple headsets at once, turning virtual adventures into social connections. In fact, research conducted by Stanford University and MIT shows that virtual reality can reduce anxiety, spark memory recall and promote social engagement among older adults.
“This amazing technology will enable us to bring the world to our residents while concurrently creating strong community bonds,” said Kelli Snell, director of life enrichment. “But perhaps more importantly, the system encour-
ages people to gather and connect by sharing their recent experience and talking about what they see and feel.”
The Rendever System, which is designed specifically for senior living communities and healthcare organizations, will be used throughout the Village’s continuum of care.
By late summer 2026, your wish will be John Knox Village’s command.
