Eligibility Policy and Areas of Major Interest

The Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation awards multiple scholarships in the amount of up to $8,000 each in support of academic studies leading to a career in a medical or healthcare discipline.  Scholarships are awarded for tuition only and must be used in the following academic year.

To be eligible for scholarship awards, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

1. The person must have lived in Lee’s Summit for a period of at least five (5) years, or have graduated from a Lee's Summit area high school. (Students must be able to present supporting documentation upon request.)

 

2. The applicant must have completed studies in their chosen healthcare field. (For a two-year program, the student must have completed at least one semester of study in order to apply. For a four-year program, they must have completed at least three semesters of study and be accepted into the healthcare study program.) A medical student must have completed their undergraduate degree and be accepted to a medical school to be eligible. If you have questions about your eligibility, please email us at glshf571@gmail.com - applicants must show that they are accepted to a professional healthcare program.

 

3. The applicant must have at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

The time frame for getting applications and supporting documentation in for consideration is as follows:

Late materials will not be accepted.

The Scholarship Application Window is January 1 to March 1

Applications and all required attachments must be submitted (postmarked) no later than March 1.  Awards will be announced following the April GLSHF Board Meeting.

Funds will be sent directly to the educational institution prior to the Fall term.
