Greater Lee's Summit Healthcare Foundation Awards $100K in Scholarships.

Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation grants $100,000 in scholarships to future healthcare professionals.

(LEE’S SUMMIT, MO) — The Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation (GLSHF), which works to strengthen the health and well-being of our community, is excited to share that it’s awarding $100,000 in scholarships to local students pursuing careers in healthcare.

The community is invited to celebrate these outstanding students at an award ceremony on Tuesday, July 8 at 4 p.m. at the Stansberry Leadership Center, 301 Tudor Rd. in Lee’s Summit, MO.

Why it matters: By supporting local students, the Foundation is investing in a more healthy Lee’s Summit. “When we invest in our local students, we’re not just funding their education — we’re building the future of healthcare in our own community. These scholarships help ensure we have compassionate, skilled professionals ready to care for us and our neighbors for generations to come.” - Dr. Laurel Hogue, Board Chair, Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation

This year, the Foundation is proud to introduce the very first Don Kahan Commitment to Community Scholarship, which will be presented to Kaci Moritz during the ceremony. This special scholarship honors the legacy of Don Kahan, a beloved Lee’s Summit community member known for his practical solutions, compassion, and commitment to making a real difference. It’s designed to lift up students who share Don’s civic spirit and dedication to serving others through careers in healthcare. Kaci recently completed her studies in Ultrasound Technology at the University of Missouri-Columbia and plans to begin working in the Lee’s Summit, MO community soon.

Who is eligible for future scholarships: Students who live in Lee’s Summit or graduated from a local high school, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and are studying or planning to study healthcare fields like medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, or other allied health professions.

  • Multiple scholarships of up to $8,000 each go directly toward tuition for the upcoming school year.
