GLSHF Announces 2019-2020 Board Officers

Lee’s Summit, MO – The Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation (GLSHF) is proud to announce the new officers for the 2019-2020 season. The mission of GLSHF is to enhance the health and well-being of the community. Since 2003, GLSHF has funded more than $1.3 million to a multitude of health-focused scholarships and grants designed to impact the well-being of the greater Lee’s Summit community.

John Beaudoin is the newly-elected GLSHF Board President. He says, “I am thrilled to lead this dedicated organization and I look forward to a productive year ahead. GLSHF is proud to award scholarships to students pursuing health careers and to help finance important nonprofit programs. Our goal is to shine the spotlight on community health and to help make Lee’s Summit the healthiest community to live, work and play.”

The 2019-2020 GLSHF Board Officers are:

John Beaudoin, President

John Beaudoin is owner of KC Communications & Media Matters and a media professional with 25 years experience in print, broadcast, radio, online and public relations/marketing experience.

Beaudoin worked for many years in the newspaper business, with 10 years at The Examiner before taking a publisher position in southwest Iowa. In 2009, Beaudoin returned to the Kansas City area as Publisher of the Lee's Summit Journal, Blue Springs Journal, Belton Star Herald and Cass County Democrat Missourian. During his tenure in journalism, Beaudoin has won dozens of state, regional and national awards for his stories, columns, editorials, design and special projects. Beaudoin currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Greater Lee's Summit Healthcare Foundation, the Economic Enhancement and Organization committees of Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street, works on the Truly 150 Steering Committee and is the past-president of Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street's Board of Directors.

Beaudoin also volunteers with the Lee's Summit R-7 School District and Pro Deo Youth Center and is a member of the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce, the Lee's Summit Historical Society, the Friends of the Lee's Summit Symphony and Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street. John and his daughter, Adaline, live in Lee's Summit where she attends Lee's Summit Elementary.

Mark Hoffman, Vice President

Dr. Hoffman serves as the Chief Research Information officer for Children’s Mercy Hospital (CMH) and the Children’s Research Institute. Dr. Hoffman has delivered a TED talk on the “Envirome” and won the iThermometer category in the Google wearable devices in healthcare challenge in 2015. He is an inventor on 19 issued patents and a member of the American Academy of Inventors. He is the PI on a CDC funded data warehouse project. Prior to CMH, he served as VP for Research and Genomics at Cerner, where he led initiatives in public health and “big data”.

Miriam Maiden, Treasurer

Miriam Maiden is the Director of Human Resources for the Kansas City Royals since July 2016. Miriam is responsible for developing and implementing company-wide personnel policies and programs to include workforce planning, recruitment, employee training, health and welfare benefits, employment/EEO regulatory compliance and performance management. Prior to joining the Royals, Miriam was Vice President of Human Resources & Compliance for the Kansas City Care Clinic. Miriam has over 15 years of expertise and experience in all aspects of human resources management in the medical and insurance industry. In addition to holding her Professional of Human Resources (PHR) certification, Society of Human Resource Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Certification, Miriam received her Bachelor of Arts from Avila University and earned her Master’s in Human Resources Management and Business Administration.

Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of the community.
