Maria Gentry Awarded GLSHF Scholarship
Congratulations, Maria Gentry!
Maria is a recipient of one of the 12 local health-focused scholarships from the Greater Lee's Summit Healthcare Foundation in 2018. Her award was for $5,000.
Maria says, "I am a second-year medical student at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I am currently interested in pursuing a residency in emergency medicine,followed by a critical care fellowship, so I can dual practice in both the ER and the ICU. I amexcited by the prospect of helping people in their most vulnerable states, when they trulycannot help themselves. I am also interested in educating future physicians, as I know thedifference that a good faculty member/teacher can make on a student. Earning this scholarshiphelps make it possible for me to follow my dream of education and practice without havingadditional stress of overwhelming student loans. Thank you so much!"
Since 2003, GLSHF has granted more than $1.3 million in scholarships or grants to a multitude of awardees designed to impact the health and well-being of the greater Lee’s Summit community.
