The Greater Lee’s Summit Healthcare Foundation recently announced the recipients of its 2015 grant awards.
The foundation, which promotes health and well-being in the Lee’s Summit area, provides grants annually to support health-related projects in the following areas:
Since 2004, the foundation has distributed more than $500,000 in nonprofit grants and educational scholarships. This year, grant funds totaling $62,434 will be distributed to six grant awardees to support the following programs:
Coldwater of Lee’s Summit: Awarded $3,000 for their “Friends’ Day lunches.”
ReDiscover: Awarded $5,000 for fitness equipment for the new Wellness Center Library
LS CARES: Awarded $10,000 for the LSR7 Student Assistance Program (SAP), a “comprehensive, school-based program designed to provide a framework for increasing student success by reducing barriers to learning.”
Hope House: Awarded $15,000 for “upgrades to the shelter’s kitchen and integrating health and nutritional education into program offerings for clients.”
Metro CARE: Awarded $15,000 for a one-year period of care provider recruitment in Lee’s Summit.
Pro Deo Youth Center: Awarded $14,434 for a “Healthy Lifestyles Challenge,” designed to “equip Lee’s Summit youth to begin living healthy lifestyles by investing in emotional, nutritional, and physical health.”
